Lagarde Will Leave the ECB on 7 February, Almost Nine Months Early. Three of the Six Seats on Its Executive Board Will Change Hands by the End of May.

Christine Lagarde will step down as president of the European Central Bank after its February policy meeting and leave on 7 February 2027, she said on Thursday 29 October. Her eight-year term would have ended in October 2027. No successor has been chosen.

The Euro Area Grew 0.4 Per Cent Last Quarter, About 1.6 Per Cent at an Annual Rate. France Shrank, and Its Jobless Rate Rose to 8.5 Per Cent.

The euro area economy grew 0.4 per cent in the third quarter, down from 0.6 per cent in the second, Eurostat's preliminary flash estimate showed on Friday 30 October. France contracted 0.1 per cent and Italy was flat. The figures are early and will be revised on 13 November.
